Silversmith
Holman Bible Dictionary
A person who works with silver. It could be in refining the silver from the ore or the making of the refined silver into the finished product. Silver was used for money and religious images (Judges 17:4 ). Silver was used in making many of the utensils used in the tabernacle and Temple (Numbers 7:13 ). The only mention of silversmiths in the NT was a dispute with Paul where his preaching was threatening their livelihood (Acts 19:23-41 ). See Occupations and Professions in the Bible .
