Straw
Holman Bible Dictionary
Usually barley or wheat stalks after they have been cut. Sometimes translated, “chaff” (KJV). It was usually used as bedding for animals, much as many farmers use it today. The Israelites were forced to use straw in the making of bricks (Exodus 5:6-13 ). See Stubble .
