Holman Bible Dictionary
Pastureland around cities that were used in common for the feeding of sheep, cattle, and other animals (Leviticus 25:34 ). Other versions translate, “open land” (NRSV); “pastureland” (NIV); and “pasture fields” (NAS). See Cities and Urban Life .
