Superstitious
Holman Bible Dictionary
KJV translation of Greek word indicating fear of or reverence for the gods. The term can be used in a good sense or in a derogatory sense. Modern translations usually take the term in the sense of “very religious” (NAS, NIV) or “uncommonly scrupulous” concerning religion (REB). Paul described the men of Athens (Acts 17:22 ), and Festus characterized Paul as he stood before King Agrippa (Acts 25:19 ) with the term.
