Holman Bible Dictionary
(tal' mahn) Personal name meaning, “brightness.” 1. Levite whom David and Samuel appointed a gatekeeper (1 Chronicles 9:17 ), ancestor of a family of Temple gatekeepers who returned from Exile (Ezra 2:42; Nehemiah 7:45 ); 2 . Leader of the postexilic gatekeepers (Nehemiah 11:19; Nehemiah 12:25 ).
