Holman Bible Dictionary
(za noh' uh) Place name meaning, “broken district” or “stinking.” 1. Village in Judah identified with khirbet Zanu about three miles south southeast of Beth-Shemesh (Joshua 15:34 ). 2 . City in the highlands of Judah (Joshua 15:56 ), whose identification with khirbet Zanuta, ten miles southwest of Hebron or khirbet Beit Amra is disputed.
