Zephathah

Holman Bible Dictionary

(zeh fuh' thuh) Place name meaning, “watchtower.” Asa met Zerah, the Ethiopian king, in battle “in the valley of Zephathah at Mareshah” (2 Chronicles 14:10 ). The earliest Greek translation translated Zaphon , “north” instead of Zephathah. If Zephathah is identified with Safiyah, less than two miles northeast of Beit Jibrin, the “valley of Zephathah” is the wadi Safiyah. See Mareshah .
