Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible
MERAIOTH. 1. Son of Ahitub and father of Zadok ( 1 Chronicles 9:11 , Nehemiah 11:11 ). 2. A Levite ( 1 Chronicles 6:6 f., Ezra 7:3 ); called in Esther 8:2 Esther 8:2 Memeroth and in Esther 1:2 Esther 1:2 Marimoth . 3. A priestly house in the days of Joiakim ( Nehemiah 12:15 = Meremoth of Nehemiah 12:3 ).
