Hastings' Dictionary of the Bible
NEBAT. Father of Jeroboam i. ( 1 Kings 11:26 and onwards). The constant designation of Jeroboam i. as ‘ben-Nebat’ is probably the usage of a writer later than Jeroboam ben-Joash. It is intended, doubtless, to distinguish the two kings.
