Ammonian Sections

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Divisions of the four Gospels indicated in the margin of nearly all Greek and Latin manuscripts, attributed to Ammonius of Alexandria (c.220) in connection with a harmony of the Gospels. In large part they are due to Eusebius (died 340). These sections differ from our scriptural chapters and verses, which date only from the 13th and 16th centuries respectively.
