Barocyclonometer

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

An instrument which unites features of a cyclonometer and an aneroid barometer, and which is used to detect the approach of typhoons. José Algu´, S.J., director of the Philippine Island Weather Bureau, invented it. It is employed on vessels navigating the East Indian and Pacific Oceans, and the U.S. government has fitted out U.S. battleships with such instruments, specially adapted for sailing on the Atlantic Ocean
