Bidding-Prayer
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
(Anglo-Saxon: biddan, to pray) The prayer just before the sermon in the Anglican Church. Originally the bidding of prayers signified the praying of prayers; later it came to signify the special prayer before the sermon.
