Abbot; died c680 He was educated on the Continent and returning to England founded a monastery at Icanhoe, at times identified with Boston (Botulph's town), in Lincolnshire (hence Boston, Massachusetts). His name also survived in Bossal, Yorkshire; Botesdale, Suffolk; and Botolph, Huntingdon and Sussex. Patron of over 50 ancient Catholic (now Protestant) churches, in England, mostly in Norfolk and Suffolk; three are in the City of London. Relics at Thorney, Westminster, and Ely. Feast, June 17,.
