(Latin: Cissae castrum, Cissa's fort) Ancient diocese, founded, 1082. The Catholic episcopal succession, broken by the schismatic Richard Sampson (1536), includes Saint Richard (1245-1253), and ends with John Christopherson (1557-1559), who was succeeded by the Anglican, William Barlow.
