1910 New Catholic Dictionary

The Fourth AEcumenical Council, held, A.D. 451, in the pontificate of Leo I, at Chalcedon, a city of Bithynia, in Asia Minor. The principal purpose of the Council was to define the Catholic doctrine on the two natures of Christ, against the Monophysite heresy.
