Cross, Saint Andrew's

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

A cross in the form of the letter X. Sometimes known as the crux decussata (from the Latin decussis, the Roman name of the numeral X, or 10). Saint Andrew the Apostle is said to have been martyred on a cross of this form.
