Eucharistic Symbols

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Ears of wheat and clusters of grapes are often used as ornaments on altars and vestments. They are emblems of the Blessed Sacrament, the Body and Blood of Christ under the appearance of bread and wine. A chalice, often surmounted by a Host, is another symbol of the Eucharist.
