1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Confessor, Bishop of Moville, born Ulster, Ireland, c.495;died 589. He was a descendant of Fiatach the Fair. He studied under Saint Colman, Saint Mochae, and Saint Ninian. Returning from a pilgrimage to Rome, he founded the monastery of Druim Fionn, and the school of Moville, and composed a rule and penitential code for his monks. He is venerated by the Welsh under the name of Saint Winin, and is believed by some to be identical with Saint Frigidian of Lucca. Patron of Ulster. Cult approved, 1903. Feast, September 10,.
