Foreign Mission Sisters of Saint Dominic (Maryknol

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

A congregation founded by Mother Mary Joseph, O.P., under the direction of Father James A. Walsh, at Maryknoll (Ossining, New York), 1921. The sisters engage exclusively in foreign mission work and take charge of Orientals on the Pacific coast. The congregation has 20 houses, including schools, orphanages, and a hospital; missions are established in China, Korea, Manchuria, and the Philippine and Hawaiian Islands. The motherhouse is at Maryknoll.
