Henry Harland

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

American novelist; born Saint Petersburg, Russia, 1861; died San Remo, Italy, 1905. A Catholic convert, he showed his interest in the Jewish race in his novels, "As It Was Written" and "Mrs. Peixada." Settling in London he wrote short stories, projected and published the quarterly "The Yellow Book," and after his conversion, wrote "The Cardinal's Snuff Box," and "The Lady Paramount," his masterpiece.
