Leibnitz, Gottfried Wilhelm

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

(July 1, 1646 - November 14, 1716) Christian mathematician. Credited with inventing differential and integral calculus. Inaugurated the notation of the new calculus. Drew up correct rules for differentiation of sums. First made use of variable parameters. Constructed a triangulum characteristicum. Wrote several valuable treatises on higher mathematics.
