First words of the prayer in the Mass following the Our Father (Pater Noster), it emphasizes the petition for deliverance from all evil, and leads up to a further petition far the peace of the Lord; to be invoked just after in the Pax Domini. It is called an Embolism (Greek: embolismos, inserted).
