1910 New Catholic Dictionary

A branch of the Conceptionist Order, formed in 1910 by Bishop Amandus Bahlmann, O.F.M., at Santarem, Brazil, to engage in charitable work among the poor in the Amazon district. The society spread and has houses in Brazil, Germany, and the United States, including hospitals, orphanages, and schools.
