Most Christian King
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
A title of the Kings of France. It came into general use in the reigns of Charles V and Charles VI. Before this, Pepin the Short, Charlemagne and Louis VII had been so called by the Popes of their times. The general use however dates from the reign of Charles VI (1464).
