1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Founded July 28, 1837 from territory split from the diocese of Bardstown; it covered the entire state of Tennessee, and was a suffragan of the archdiocese of Cincinnati. Today it covers the central part of the state, and its metropolitan is the archdiocese of Louisville. See also,
