Catholic geologist and anatomist. Born January 10, 1638; died November 26, 1686. "The Father of Geology." Bishop. Renowned for his geological discoveries. Made the first explanation of petrifactions in the earth. Made significant contributions to anatomy; e.g., he discovered the parotid glands excretory duct.
