Parrenin, Dominique
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Jesuit missionary, born. at Russey, France, 1665; died at Beijing, China, 1741. His varied knowledge and familiar use of Chinese earned him the good will of the Chinese emperors, which he utilized in the interest of religion and science. To him is due the continuance of the mission at Peking during violent persecutions. His services to science were of value in drawing up the great map of China.
