1910 New Catholic Dictionary

A small tribe of Salishan stock of British Columbia now on the reservation included in the Cowichan Agency. Formerly they depended on the sea for subsistence, now they live by farming, hunting and fishing. They are Catholics, and industrious and moral. Regular mission work was begun by Father Bolduc in 1843.
