Praemunire

(Latin: to place before)
Statute of Edward III of England, in 1353, forbidding his subjects to plead in a foreign court in matters which the King's Court could decide, and in 1365 expressly mentioning the papal court, so that no bishop, priest, or layman could appeal to it.
