1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Founded as the Vicariate Apostolic of New France on April 11, 1658. Elevated to the diocese of Quebec on October 1, 1674. Elevated to an archdiocese on January 12, 1819. Designated as a metropolitan archdiocese on July 12, 1844. Its first bishop was Blessed Francis de Montmorency Laval. Suffragen dioceses include
