Seraphim
1910 New Catholic Dictionary
Those angels who compose the highest of the nine choirs. The word, masculine plural in form, is taken ftom the Hebrew and is probably derived from a root which means "to consume with fire," indicating the intensity of their love of God. In Scripture (Isaiah 6), they are pictured as the immediate attendants at the throne of God.
