Sergius III, Pope

1910 New Catholic Dictionary

Born in Rome, Italy; died there in 911. Reigned from 904 to 911. Little is known of his life except from the writings of his enemies. During his pontificate he declared the ordinations conferred by Formosus null in 904, opposed the errors of the Greeks on the question of the Descent of the Holy Ghost, and declared the fourth marriage of the Greek emperor Leo VI valid.
