1910 New Catholic Dictionary

The "just and devout" man of Jerusalem who greeted the infant Saviour on His presentation in the Temple, prophesied the sorrows of the Blessed Virgin, and uttered the canticle Nunc dimittis (Luke 2): "Now thou dost dismiss thy servant, O Lord, according to thy word in peace; because my eyes have seen thy salvation.
