Martyred in 106. Bishop of Jerusalem; one of the 72 disciples of Christ. Son of Cleophas and Mary, and, therefore a first cousin to Christ. He was present at the Ascension and Pentecost. After the death of Saint James in 62, Simeon succeeded him as Bishop of Jerusalem, which see he occupied for about 40 years.
