Band
People's Dictionary of the Bible
Band. A band of Roman soldiers consisted of the tenth part of a legion, called a "cohort;" it varied, according to the size of the legion, from 400 to 600 soldiers. Matthew 27:27; Acts 21:31, and elsewhere.
