Lodebar

People's Dictionary of the Bible

Lodebar (lô-dç'bar or lô'de-bär), without pasture. A place in the tribe of Gad, not far from Mahanaim, north of the Jabbok, east of the Jordan. 2 Samuel 9:4; 2 Samuel 17:27. Here dwelt Machir the Ammonite, who assisted David in his flight from Absalom, and there lived Mephibosheth, Jonathan's lame son. Some suppose it to be the same as Debir, Joshua 13:26, but by modern travellers it has not yet been identified.
