Vine's Expository Dictionary of NT Words

1: ἀμάω

(Strong's #270 — Verb — amao — am-ah'-o )

"to mow," is translated "moved" in James 5:4 , RV (AV, "have reaped down"). "The cognate words seem to show that the sense of cutting or mowing was original, and that of gathering-in secondary" (Liddell and Scott, Lex.).
