(n.) A gold coin, so called from being coined at Byzantium. See Bezant.

(a.) Of or pertaining to Byzantium.

(3):

(n.) A native or inhabitant of Byzantium, now Constantinople; sometimes, applied to an inhabitant of the modern city of Constantinople.
