Abednego
Holman Bible Dictionary
(uh behd' nih goh) In Daniel 1:7 , the Babylonian name given to one of the three Hebrew youths who were conscripted along with Daniel to serve in the king's court. God delivered them from the fiery furnace (Daniel 2:48-3:30 ). His Hebrew name was Azariah. The precise meaning of the Babylonian name Abednego is disputed. Abed means “servant.” Nego may include the name of a Babylonian god. See Daniel, Book of; Azariah .
