Holman Bible Dictionary
(am' ih thihsst) A deep purple variety of stone of the aluminum oxide family. Used in the breastplate of the high priest (Exodus 28:19; Exodus 39:12 ) and the twelfth stone in the foundation wall of the new Jerusalem (Revelation 21:20 ). See Jewelry, Jewels.
