(ay' rah) Personal name meaning, “ox” or “traveller.” 1. Clan of 775 people who returned to Jerusalem with Zerubbabel from Babylonian Exile about 537 B.C. (Ezra 2:5 ). Nehemiah 7:10 gives the number as 652. 2. Father of Schechaniah, father-in-law of Tobiah, who led opposition to Nehemiah ( Nehemiah 6:18 ). May be identical with clan head of 1 above. 3. Member of tribe of Asher (1 Chronicles 7:39 ).
