Archer
Holman Bible Dictionary
One who shoots an arrow from a bow. Archery was used in ancient times for the hunting of both small and large game and in warfare. An archer trained from childhood until he could pull a 100-pound bow that would shoot an arrow a distance of 300-400 yards. Several Old Testament passages mention archery in warfare (Genesis 49:23-24; 2 Samuel 11:24 ). See Arms and Armor .
