Holman Bible Dictionary
(bee' ay luhth) Place name meaning, “female Baals” or “ladies.” 1. Town on southern border of tribal territory of Judah (Joshua 15:24 ). This may be the same as Baalath-beer (Joshua 19:8 ). 2 . Region with Asher making up a district to supply food for Solomon's court (1 Kings 4:16 ). KJV, NIV read, “in Aloth.” This could be a common noun meaning, “in the heights.” If a town is meant, its location is unknown.
