Commonwealth
Holman Bible Dictionary
A group of people united by common interests. Before the coming of Christ the Gentiles were separated from the commonwealth of Israel (Ephesians 2:12 ). Paul reminded the Philippians that more important than their citizenship in a Roman colony was their citizenship in heaven (Philippians 3:20 ). See Citizen, Citizenship .
