Holman Bible Dictionary
(cuhth), CUTHAH Place names with two spellings in Hebrew and English. Cuthah was the center of worship of Nergal, god of death in Mesopotamia. See 2 Kings 17:24 ). Once settled, they made an idol to worship Nergal (2 Kings 17:30 ), thus aggravating the tendency to worship Yahweh of Israel along with other gods. Cuth was located at tell Ibrahim, about 18 miles northeast of Babylon.
