Holman Bible Dictionary
(di aht' rih feess) Personal name meaning, “nurtured by Jove.” An individual whose self-serving ambition is cited unfavorably (3 John 1:9 ). The writer of the letter declared that Diotrephes rejected his (the writer's) authority. See 3John.
