Dough

Holman Bible Dictionary

Flour or meal mixed with liquid, usually water but sometimes olive oil as well, which is baked as bread. Dough was normally leavened, given time to rise, and then kneaded before baking (Jeremiah 7:18; Hosea 7:4 ). The necessity for haste at the Hebrews' departure from Egypt caused them to carry their dough before it was leavened (Exodus 12:34 ). See Bread .
