Holman Bible Dictionary
(ehl pay' al) Personal name meaning, “God has made.” A clan name in the tribe of Benjamin, mentioned twice in 1 Chronicles 8:1 (1Chronicles 8:11-12, 1 Chronicles 8:18 ). Bible students debate whether the references refer to the same clan ancestor or to two individuals. It is also uncertain whether he or his sons receive credit for building Ono and Lod (1 Chronicles 8:12 ).
