(er) Personal name meaning, “protector” or “watchful.” 1. Oldest son of Judah and grandson of Jacob (Genesis 38:3 ). He married Tamar but was so wicked that God killed him (Genesis 38:6-7 ). 2 . A grandson of Judah (1 Chronicles 4:21 ).
