Gob

Holman Bible Dictionary

(gohb) Place name meaning, “back” or “mountain crest.” Site where David and his men fought two battles with the Philistines, killing Philistine giants (2 Samuel 21:18-19 ). The parallel passage (1 Chronicles 20:4 ) names Gezer as the place. Some Hebrew manuscripts read Benob or “in Nob” as in 2 Samuel 21:16 . The Greek manuscripts presuppose either in Gath or in Gezer. The location of Gob is not known, though it appears to be a Philistine city.
